Bank stabilization structures held during high water in January and March 1995 at Serpa Lane and riparian trees were planted in April of that year. Cages prevent beaver damage and boards act as shade cards to prevent moisture stress during summer. Photo provided by the Siskiyou RCD.
This photo shows the cattle exclusion fence and riparian planting at Serpa Lane in April 1995. See Picture #6 for after photo. Photo provided by the Siskiyou RCD.
This photo is taken looking downstream at Serpa Lane Restoration site after high water in January 1995. Note the amount of soil deposited around rock structures. Bank stabilization projects can help trap sediment during high water particularly if there are riparian trees as well. Photo provided by the Siskiyou RCD.
Looking downstream at same site as Picture #4 after planting and fencing project in April 1995. Photo provided by the Siskiyou RCD.
After picture at Serpa Lane taken in August 1997 shows willow trees surviving but competing with grasses and shrubs. The Scott River is just out of sight over the berm at left in the photo. Taken as part of Kier Associates (1999) Klamath Restoration Mid-Program Evaluation (see Kris Bibliography).
