WQ: Dissolved Oxygen in Americano Creek V. Estero Americano 1988-1990 |

    |
Caption:  The graph shows instantaneous dissolved oxygen concentrations measured in Americano Creek (Station E-6) and its estuary Estero Americano (Station E-3) during 1988-1990. Dissolved oxygen was much more variable in stream stations than estuary stations. The dissolved oxygen levels at Station E-6 were below lethal levels for salmonids. The reference values represent the minimum North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board (NCRWQCB) 2001 Basin Plan criterion for Cold water habitat (6.0 mg/L) and Warm water habitat (5.0 mg/L) (CRWQCB, 2001). In addition, waters with beneficial use designation of Spawning must meet a minimum criterion of 7.0 mg/L , plus a minimum of 9.0 mg/L during critical spawning and egg incubation periods. This monitoring was part of a water quality study of Americano and Stemple Creek watersheds by Merritt Smith Consulting for the City of Santa Rosa and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. See Picture for a map of the sampling locations and Info Links for more details.
