Fish: Downstream Migrants Mainstem Above South Fork 1996 |

    |
Caption:  The Humboldt Fish Action Council operated a downstream migrant trap in Freshwater Creek, just above its convergence with the South Fork from March through June, 1996. Although the trap catch included many young of the year coho, there were fewer yearling coho and steelhead and far fewer chinook captured than in 1989. The trap was washed out by high water twice in 1996 while 1989 was a drought year which would have aided trap efficiency. Therefore, no direct comparison can be made with 1989 trap results.
