Temperature: Min, Max, Avg at North Fork Battle near Mouth 1995 |
|
Caption: This temperature graph shows minimum, maximum, and average water temperatures on North Fork Battle Creek above the confluence with the South Fork in 1996. Thresholds shown on the graph above are for the egg life history stage before July 1 for winter chinook and after September 15 for spring chinook eggs and for holding adults spring chinook during summer. This location is below reaches considered optimal for winter run chinook spawning but average temperatures in 1995 stayed mostly below stressful levels for incubating eggs of winter chinook salmon (June). Holding adult spring chinook (July 1- Sept. 15) in this reach would have experienced some stress with average temperatures approaching 65 F during late July. Increased flows under restoration should improve conditions in this reach incrementally. See Info Links for more information on temperature thresholds.
