Area South Fork Ten Mile
Topic Sediment: Fines <0.85 mm (SFT 4) Churchman Creek 1993-2001

Caption:  Percent fine sediment less than 0.85 mm from wet sieve McNeil bulk gravel samples in Churchman Creek in the South Fork Ten Mile River (SFT4) are displayed above for the years 1993 to 2001. Two stations (riffles) in a study reach were sampled annually. Bars represent the average of four McNeil samples at a station and whiskers represent standard deviation and 95% confidence intervals. Fine sediment (<0.85 mm) was over levels know to negatively affect spawning salmonids, including the range of all samples in 1996, 2000 and 2001. The reference value of 14% comes from the Ten Mile River TMDL and is derived from the literature regarding salmonid spawning habitat quality. Data provided by Hawthorne Timber Company.
