Habitat: Scour Pool Habitat by Area, Ranked |
|
Caption: Ten Mile River basin streams surveyed during the summers of 1995 and 1996 are sorted in the above chart by percent of stream habitat comprised of scour pools. Values range from 39% (North Fork Mainstem) to 1% (Gulch 8). Scour formed habitat is associated with channel depth and complexity, and may be a particularly good parameter for assessing coho salmon rearing habitat availability. CRWQCB (2001) found a correlation between this measure and where coho have persisted in the Ten Mile River basin. See Info Links for more information.
