Caption:  This chart shows percent fines <0.85 mm in Willow Creek pool-tail gravels in 2000. Sampled pool-tails were located in Mendocino Redwood Company's (MRC) long-term monitoring segment SW1. One of the four pool-tails exceeded the salmonid survival reference of 10.3%. The reference value of 10.3% fines less than 0.85 mm was adjusted from the EPA Gualala TMDL <0.85 mm target of 14% using methods of Shirazi and Seim (1979). Samples were collected and analyzed by MRC in 2000. MRC used dry-sieve analysis methods to determine size distribution. See InfoLinks for more information.
