The image above shows USFS tree size classes for 90 meter riparian strips in the Skunk Cabbage Creek Calwater based on a 1994 Landsat image. Note the preponderance of non-forest in the riparian zone. This is largely due to agricultural practices and a levee maintenance agreement that removes the riparian trees from inside the levees. The stand types are only accurate at the one-hectare scale.
