Caption:  Pool tail embeddedness ratings are comprised of four categories from 1 (0-25% embedded gravels which are optimal) to 4 (75-100% embedded gravels which are very poor for spawning due to high levels of fine sediment). Pool tails deemed unsuitable for spawning were not rated for embeddedness. These visual estimates involve some subjectivity and are not as rigorous in describing spawning and incubation habitat conditions as McNeil samples. See Info Links for more information.
