Sediment: Fines <3.3 mm Little NF Noyo 1992 |
|
Caption: This chart shows the level of fine sand (<3.3 mm) in potential salmonid spawning gravels in the Little North Fork Noyo River as measured by Valentine (1994). Reach A1 is the lowest; reaches move progressively upstream to E5. The level of fines is higher than recommended for particles less than 6.4 mm in the Noyo TMDL at three of five stations. Fines up to 6.4 mm are typically categorized as sand sized and can intrude into streambeds and cap redds; therefore, these samples under represent sand-sized particles in the streambed that could be harmful to salmonids.
