   |  | Caption:  Knopp (1993) measured fine sediment in pools using the V* technique. The chart above shows that some Noyo River tributaries such as Kass Creek and nearby streams such as Pudding Creek had very high volumes of fine sediment relative to water in their pools while other streams such as Brandon Gulch and lower SF Caspar Creek  had much less sediment in pools. The Noyo River TMDL threshold for V* of 0.21 is shown for reference. Some sediment in pools may be a result of earlier logging activities and sediment contributions. Knopp (1993) found significant relationships between V* and watershed disturbance, particularly logging and road building. |
