KRIS Navarro : Meta Information Page
This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.
Meta Identifier | Brown_outmigran |
Type of Data | Daily downstream migrant trap results for Navarro mainstem |
Originator | California Department of Fish and Game |
Description | Salmonid juveniles caught in a downstream fyke net were broken down by age class and average fork length. Nets were generally fished at night. Most of the data comes from the mainstem Navarro River near Dimmick Campground, but one day of sampling was conducted near Fish Rock Rd on Rancheria Creek. |

Purpose | To monitor salmonid outmigrant timing in the Navarro River. |
Data Quality Information | Downstream migrant trap results may under-represent some age classes of salmonids because of trap avoidance. Trap efficiencies vary with flow years which makes use of data for population trend assessment impossible. |
Use Constraints | Data should not be used for calculating total production. |

Title | Downstream migration of salmonids in the Navarro River, April through June 1972 |
Abstract | Downstream migrant salmonids were trapped in the Navarro River in the spring of 1972 to gain some insight into their distribution within the river and the timing of their emigrations. |
Other Citation Details | The fyke net used has been described by Puckett (1976). The basic net was altered, however, by sewing two wings to the front and thus expanding the mouth from a 0.9 by 1.5 m (3-foot by 5-foot) opening to a 0.9 by 2.7 m (3-foot by 9-foot) opening. Each wing was a panel of 0.9 by 1.5 m (3-foot by 5-foot), 0.6 cm (0.25 inch) stretched mesh. Each panel was anchored in the stream by two metal fence posts. |
