Temperature: FWA at NF Indian Cr - lwr (Site 86-1) 1993 and 1996 |
|
Caption: The chart shows the floating weekly average water temperature in Celsius (°C) at lower North Fork Indian Creek (site 86-1) for the years 1993 and 1996. Floating weekly average water temperatures exceeded 19.0°C for most of July and August of both years. Based on a review of steelhead growth studies, Sullivan et al. (2000) found that compared to optimum temperatures, a maximum floating weekly average temperature (MWAT) of 17.0°C reduced steelhead growth by 10%, and an MWAT of 19.0°C reduced growth by 20%. Sullivan thresholds were used in NF Indian Creek because it is unclear whether coho utilize this stream. A late 1960s CDFG visual survey found coho fry in the lower reaches (CDFG 1969). However, historical anecdotes and channel slope maps suggest that coho are more likely to utilize Indian Creek (Tindall 1978). See Info Links for more information.
