Caption: The chart displays the timber cut in Mendocino County for the year 1947-1993. Notice that peak production appears in the mid-1950s at over 1 billion board feet cut in a single year. Production in later years has steadily declined. The upsurge in the late 1980's reflects increased harvest but with smaller diameter trees. See chart table for exact numbers. The data were extracted from "Mills of Mendocino County: a record of the lumber industry 1852 - 1996" by Mendocino County Historical Society, 1996, which was on the shelves of the Anderson Valley Historical Society in Boonville..
