This photo shows the Shasta racks circa 1993 just as weir panels are being installed by the California Department of Fish and Game. The location of the trap is now just above the convergence with the Klamath River on the lower Shasta River.
This photo shows the Shasta racks with the weir panels removed after the fall Chinook salmon spawning season.
California Department of Fish and Game employee lifts an adult Chinook salmon out of the holding pen at the Shasta Racks. The fish was measured and a scale sample taken before it was released upstream.
Dr. Jan Derksen of the KRIS project points to an adult Chinook salmon passing through the counting weir on the Shasta River in fall 1997. Dave Webb, Shasta CRMP Coordinator looks on.
Fall Chinook salmon shows as dark spots in this photo which was taken in the lower Shasta River just upstream of its convergence with the Klamath River in fall 1997. Fish sometimes congregate just below the counting weir that is just upstream.
