This photo shows the Peters property fence project is just upstream of the Interstate 5 Bridge just north of Yreka. Note improved vegetation in the riparian zone inside the fence.

Recontoured banks have revegetated decreasing the risk of erosion during high flows. Riparian fencing has also helped accelerate recovery of stabilizing grasses, trees and shrubs.

The 1997 flood caused slight flood damage to this gate of stock water access on the Peter's ranch requiring about $50 for repair. Damage could have been prevented had the gates been secured more tightly during high water.
