These lakes are often stocked with trout and provide popular destinations for back packers and guided parties. The ridge behind the lake has recently experienced a forest fire. Lighting strikes frequently trigger fires near ridge tops in the Marble Mountains.
Hikers pack in an inflatable kayak to explore a lake in the Marble Mountain Wilderness.
Couple enjoy the view of the Marble Mountains from a rock promontory. Marble Mountain itself is at the center of the photo in the distance. The hillside in the photo shows the effects of wild fire. In undisturbed old growth forests, fires may burn hot only in patches, creating a mosaic of old trees and regenerating adjacent areas.
