KRIS Klamath : Meta Information Page
This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.
Meta Identifier | Flows_HardyII |
Type of Data | Flow data and projected flow needs based on Klamath River flow, fish and fluvial data |
Originator | Dr. Thomas Hardy |
Description | Hardy Phase I (1999) based flow recommendations on the basis of historical flows before and after dams, but Hardy Phase II had the benefit of additional field data collected along the mainstem Klamath River for nearly a decade by USFWS, CDFG, the Karuk Tribe, the Yurok Tribe and others. This added data on fish, substrate, habitat types, depth, velocity and other factors so that Phase II recommendations have a much broader and less theoretical basis. The Phase II study relied on state-of-the-art field data collection methodologies and modeling of physical habitat for target species and life stages of anadromous fish. |
Area | Klamath River, iron Gate to the Trinity River |
Metadata Date | 1/23/2004 |
Metadata Contact | Patrick Higgins |
Contact Person Primary | Dr. Thomas Hardy |
Status | complete |
Request Log | Dr. Hardy provided data and report and allowed sharing despite draft status due largely to technicalities that do not affect over all conclusions. |
Access Constraints | None |
Lead Person | Patrick Higgins |
Lead Organization | IFR |
Notes | See Hardy Phase II report in KRIS Bibliography |
Data Set Name | flow_hardy2_ig_shasta.dbf, flow_hardy2_salmon_trinity.dbf, flow_hardy2_scott_salmon.dbf, flow_hardy2_shasta_scott.dbf |
Purpose | Evaluation of Interim Instream Flow Needs in the Klamath River |
Data Quality Information | High |
Use Constraints | None except that keeping Hardy Phase II in draft has kept courts from considering it in making Klamath flow determinations which are currently under litigation. |
Supplemental Information | Field data collected by USFWS, CDFG, the Karuk Tribe, the Yurok Tribe and others. |
Keywords | Klamath flows, modelling |
Publisher | Dr. Thomas Hardy |
Publication Place | USU |
Issue Identification | Klamath flows |
Title | Evaluation of Interim Instream Flow Needs in the Klamath River |
Abstract | The flow recommendation process employed a prioritization of species and life stages to be considered within the year and/or within a specific month. |
