| Caption: The maximum daily water temperatures of Clear Creek below the South Fork in 1993 and 1994 are displayed above. Clear Creek is a "Key Watershed" according to the Northwest Forest Plan and a refuge for salmon and steelhead during times when the Klamath mainstem is stressful or lethal. The maximum Clear Creek water temperature exceed stressful levels for salmon or steelhead (>20C) for only a few days during the period of record. It is likely that 20 C was exceeded for only short periods of time during the day. It would be interesting to have the data for the period between 6/15/94 and 7/29/94. Temperatures on Dillon Creek exceeded stressful levels during the same time period of this critically dry year. It is likely that the 1994 Dillon Creek fire is responsible for the cooling trend of Clear Creek temperatures in the latter half of the summer of that year.
