Sediment: Pine Creek Fines < 1 mm, 1992-1993 |
|
Caption: The Hoopa Tribal Fisheries Department, using the McNeil sampling method, collected fine sediment data at 16 sites in the Pine Creek watershed in 1992 and 1993. Four samples were taken at each station and the average amount of fine sediment less than 1 mm is shown above. Fine sediment in this category can infiltrate redds and decrease survival and emergence. The desired level for fine sediment less than 0.85 mm is less than 14% according to the Garcia River TMDL published by the U.S. EPA. See Info Links for more information on understanding sediment and salmonid spawning success.
