INSTITUTE FOR FISHERIES RESOURCES GIS TECHNICAL WORK GROUP -- GIS METADATA LIBRARY: Klamath COVERAGE NAME: temp_pts_sixrivers.shp METADATA FILE: temp_pts_sixrivers.shp.txt METADATA FILE DATE: January 23, 2004 METADATA PREPARER: Eli Asarian Institute for Fisheries Resources (IFR) 791 Eighth Street Ste. N Arcata, CA 95521 (707) 822-9428 http://www.krisweb.com ORIGINATOR: Adam Dresser Six Rivers National Forest, Supervisor's Office 1330 Bayshore Way Eureka, CA 95501 Phone: (707) 442-1721 Fax: (707) 442-9242 adresser@fs.fed.gov COVERAGE DESCRIPTION: This shapefile shows the locations of Six Rivers National Forest temperature monitoring sites in the Trinity River basin. METHODS: Data was contributed to KRIS as an ArcInfo coverage from Adam Dresser of Six Rivers National Forest. He digitized points from his memory on top of existing coverages, such as topo maps, streams, roads VITAL STATISTICS: Datum: NAD 27 Projection: UTM Units: Meters 1st Std. Parallel: 34 00 00 (34.0 degrees N) 2nd Std. Parallel: 40 30 00 (40.5 degrees N) Longitude of Origin: -120 00 00 (120.0 degrees W) Latitude of Origin: 00 00 00 (0.0 degrees) False Easting (X shift): 0 False Northing (Y shift): 0 Source: see notes above Data Structure: Vector (point) DATA DICTIONARY: NOTE: Items common to all ARC/INFO coverages: LENGTH, AREA, PERIMETER COVER_ (#), and COVER _ID (-ID) are not described here. Structure for attribute table: Number Name --------------------- 6 Location 7 ID 8 FSP_ID LOCATION = Monitoring site location (LOCATION is typically a stream, or a well-known location on a stream). Original attribute from Six Rivers National Forest. ID = A label given to sites by KRIS staff. It is the code used in KRIS chart tables and source tables. If site was the same as a site in the FSP database, then the FSP_ID is the ID. FSP_ID = Added by KRIS staff. A Unique ID from Humboldt State University's Institute for Forest and Watershed Management (IFWM, formerly known as the Forest Science Project) temperature database that was published in 2000. Also matches FSP_SITEID attribute in another shapefile included in KRIS (ifwm_trinity_temps.shp). If site was not in FSP's database, then this is left blank. DATA QUALITY ASSESSMENT: Geographic accuracy is likely within several hundred feet, sometimes worse, sometimes better. Temperature data (MWATs) should be of high quality, as they were collected using automatic temperature probes.
