Temperature: FWA, Alder Creek Sites, 2001 |
|
Caption: This chart shows floating weekly average temperature at four sites in the Alder Creek watershed for the year 2001: lower Alder Creek (89-1), upper Alder Creek (89-2), Owl Creek (89-21), and Bee Tree Creek (98-23). Although Owl Creek and Bee Tree Creek are both perennial, they do not have access for anadromous salmonids and are, thus, Class II streams as recognized under California Forest Practice Rules. Floating weekly average temperatures did not exceed 16.8°C at any of the four sites, indicating that Alder Creek had temperatures suitable for coho salmon rearing. Welsh et al. (2001) found that coho are not likely to persist where maximum floating weekly average temperature (MWAT) exceeds 16.8°C, although the Class II streams are upstream of where these fish can access.
