Temperature: Floating Weekly Average of SF Big River 1996-97,1999,2000 |
|
Caption: Floating weekly average water temperature of the South Fork Big River just above its convergence with the mainstem exceeded 16.8 degrees C for all four years of record. This reach is consequently unsuitable for coho salmon production during summer due to high water temperature. The level of exceedence varied some among years, but lasted longer than two months in all years measured. The 16.8 degree C stress threshold for coho salmon was chosen based on Welsh et al. (2001).
