Fish: Annual Trap Catch of Salmonid Fry, 1987-99 |
|
Caption: The California Department of Fish and Game has operated a downstream migrant trap in Caspar Creek since 1987. Large numbers of salmonid fry moving downstream past this mainstem location indicate that habitat carrying capacity is less than fry production. These small downstream migrants have very little chance of surviving the ocean. Unfortunately, total catch is influenced by variable trap efficiency and may not provide a reliable index of the inter-annual variation in the population. See Info Links for more information.
