Fish: Total Trap Catch by Species, 1995 |
|
Caption: The total catch in the California Department of Fish and Game's fyke net gives an indication of aquatic vertebrate community structure in Caspar Creek. The relative abundance of coho salmon and steelhead trout outmigrants was similar in 1995. The population structure was also similar among these fishes, with young-of-the-year outmigrants exceeding yearling outmigrants by greater than one order of magnitude. Numbers of fish trapped cannot be construed as a fish population estimate because of unknown trap efficiency and avoidance of the trap by fish at higher flows. See Info Links for more information.
