Caption: This temperature graph shows minimum, maximum, and average water temperatures on South Fork Battle Creek at Coleman Diversion Dam in 1997. The temperature probe was placed below the Inskip Powerhouse where tailwater helps cool the South Fork. Thresholds shown on the graph above are for the egg life history stage before July 1 for winter chinook, spring chinook eggs after September 15 and for holding spring chinook adults during summer (July-September). Temperatures in 1997 would have been partially lethal for incubating eggs of winter run chinook (>58 F) but only slightly stressful for holding spring chinook (<66 F on average). Inskip tailwaters, which influence this reach, include some cold water from the North Fork Battle Creek. See Info Links for more information on temperature thresholds.
