Fish: Winter Run Sacramento Escapement 1982-2003 |
|
Caption: The winter run chinook returns to the main Sacramento River from 1982 through 2003 are displayed on this chart. This subset of data were selected so that the scale would allow better resolution of extremely low returns in the early 1990's. Population estimates dipped below 200 adults in 1990 and 1994. Rebound in recent years may be in part owing to improved temperature conditions in the main Sacramento as a result of retooling release mechanisms at Shasta Dam and improved ocean conditions (CDFG, 2003). Results for 2000-2003 are provisional and subject to revision. Data provided by the California Department of Fish and Game as part of its annual report to the Fish and Game Commission.
