Caption: This graph shows average daily water temperatures at four North Fork Battle Creek sites in 1996. Thresholds shown on the graph above are for the egg life history stage before July 1 for winter chinook and after September 15 for spring chinook eggs and for holding adults spring chinook during summer. The lowest reach of North Fork BattleCreek just above the confluence with the South Fork (ABC) was the warmest with temperatures exceeding stressful for winter run chinook salmon eggs (58 F) during June and for holding adult spring chinook (61 F) during summer. The Wildcat (WLD) and Eagle Canyon (ECD) reaches of the North Fork were within the optimal range for winter run eggs. The North Fork at the NF Battle Diversion (NFB) was optimal for spring chinook holding in 1996. See Info Links for more information on temperature thresholds.
