Fish: Total Coleman NFH Contributions to Fisheries 1995-1997 |
|
Caption: The graph above shows the combined contributions of Coleman Hatchery and Battle Creek to ocean harvest, hatchery returns and escapement to Battle Creek of fall and late run fall chinook. An estimated 90% of this total were produced at Coleman National Fish Hatchery according to USFWS (see Chart Table). Coleman Hatchery and Battle Creek make extremely significant contributions to ocean chinook salmon fisheries with over 200,000 fish harvested in 1995. Only a few thousand returning adult fall chinook salmon are needed for broodstock and many more spawn naturally in Battle Creek.
