Hydrology: Percent Rain on Snow in Battle WA Sub-Basins |
|
Caption: This chart shows, for each Battle Creek Watershed Assessment sub-basin, the percentage or proportion that is in the rain-on-snow zone. According to Terraqua (2004): "Approximately 27 percent of the Battle Creek watershed is within the 'dominant rain-on-snow zone' from 3,500 to 5,000 feet above sea level. On average, 23 percent (± 18 SEM; range 0 to 84%) of the area within 51 site-specific watersheds lies within the dominant rain-on-snow zone." More specifically, the chart shows that the two creeks with highest proportion of watershed area in this zone are Bailey Creek (50%) and Rock Creek (80%). Data were derived by Dr. Paul Trichilo of Kier Associates and the KRIS team using ESRI software and GIS. See Info Links for more information.
