Fish: 2001 Electrofishing for Coho Salmon Walker Creek |
|
Caption: On October 12, 2001, the California Department of Fish and Game surveyed two reaches (ten pools each) in Walker Creek to look for coho salmon. Steelhead was the dominant species in both samples but coho were not found in either reach. This graph represents the total number of fish that were captured, but note that fish were only captured as needed to identify them to species. These numbers do not represent the total amount of fish that may have been present in the sampling area and data cannot be used to infer population levels. Although coho were absent in samples, it cannot be inferred that they totally absent from Walker Creek as they may be present in other years or at low levels in other reaches of the stream.
