Fish: 1981 Electrofishing (Estimated Population) Walker Creek Total |
|
Caption: The chart shows the estimated population of various species of fish in Walker Creek as calculated by the California Department of Fish and Game in 1981. Walker Creek was electrofished at six stations and results were extrapolated to calculate basin populations. Note that coho salmon were present at that time, although at low levels. The dominance of California roach is often associated with an elevated water temperature regime. Emig (1984) noted that improved flow release from Soulajule Reservoir were improving steelhead abundance but noted that bank erosion was causing diminished habitat capability and that riparian zones should be restored. See Picture for a map of station locations and Info Links for more information.
