Caption:  The graph shows the average estimated number of juvenile salmonids per 100 feet at several sites in Redwood Creek during October 1998. The length of the surveys is on the axis at right and sites on the X-axis are in downstream order to the right. The winter of 1997-1998 had heavy El Niņo storms, which caused substantial changes in the streambed, including partial filling of pools and a reduction in the amount of riffle habitat, although habitat slightly improved at Site 7. However, coho salmon densities were relatively high, but were lower than in 1992-1993 and 1995-1996 (Smith, 1998). Data were collected by Dr. Jerry J. Smith for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. See Picture for a map of the sampling sites and Info Links for more information.
