Caption: This graph shows the estimated biomass of juvenile coho salmon, steelhead trout, and sculpin at four stations in Redwood Creek sampled by electrofishing in October 1988. The stations are ordered going downstream (2, 1, 3, 4). The most downstream station had the highest biomass of steelhead and the lowest biomass of coho salmon. During this survey approximately 1.25 miles of stream below Station 4 was dry. In addition to these stations, pools at Muir Beach were also electroshocked and no salmonids, only sculpin, threespine stickleback, and juvenile rockfish were found. Also presence/absence surveys were conducted above Station 2 and in Fern Creek. Only trout (believed to be resident rainbow trout) were found above Station 2. Coho salmon, steelhead trout, and sculpin were found at the 220 four contour of Fern Creek, while only coho salmon and steelhead trout were found at the 350 foot contour. Data were collected by staffers at Redwood National Park in Arcata, California for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
