Description	Aquatic habitat in Americano and Stemple Creeks was surveyed and classified into six categories, four for streams, one for ponds, and one for estuaries. The stream categories (Coolwater A and B and Warmwater A and B) were based on fish species likely to be found in stream habitat having particular characteristics. These characteristics include flow, water temperature, gradient, water quality, relative location in the watershed, riparian canopy, substrate condition, shelter availability, bank stabilization, food supply, etc. Coolwater A Habitat has a steep gradient with perennial flow and is ideal spawning and rearing habitat for salmonids. Coolwater B Habitat has a steep gradient with ephemeral or seasonal flow and may support salmonids, but is not as biologically productive as Coolwater A. Warmwater A Habitat has a shallow gradient with perennial flow and may be suitable for some native non-salmonid fishes and introduced warmwater fishes. Warmwater B has a shallow gradient with ephemeral or seasonal flow and is unsuitable for any fishes and most amphibians and reptiles, but may serve as a migratory corridor for salmonids. Pond Habitat has no gradient with perennial flow and is used by many of same species as Warmwater A. Estuary Habitat has salinity and tides as important features and usually supports a variety of aquatic species.

Purpose	The City of Santa Rosa and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers commissioned a series of studies to examine areas for potential places where wastewater could be disbursed, including waterbodies outside the Russian River basin. Aquatic habitat sampling was conducted to characterize the existing condition of habitat available for fish and other aquatic life in streams that may be affected by the project alternatives.
Data Quality Information	Surveys consisted primarily of visual descriptions and estimates of parameters. Access issues and a change in project description prevented a more in-depth study.
