KRIS West Marin-Sonoma: Chart Page

Area Lagunitas Creek
Topic Fish: Population Estimates 1 Basinwide 1982

Caption:  This chart shows estimated fish population size for streams in the Lagunitas Creek watershed sampled in 1982 by the California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG) and shows the stream to be dominated by steelhead trout. Lagunitas Creek was divided into a lower section from the mouth to the Samuel P. Taylor State Park Boundary, and an upper section in the park and up to Peters Dam. Population estimates were made by CDFG using extrapolation by stream length. Low levels of coho salmon juveniles (1550) were attributed to low numbers of spawning adults, poor gravel conditions and an extremely high flow on January 4, 1982.
